History of the North Park Ranch Rodeo, taken from the book “A Tough 100 Years” by Oley Kohlman, written by Dusty Hackett
The first community ranch rodeo was held on September 26, 1993. Fred Kaiser, Dave and Kay Meyring, and Linda and Steve Story sponsored it.
It was held as a benefit for Lynnette Evans and raised approximately $8,900.00 and brought in $2,300.00 from the calcutta. A great number of local ranchers and community individuals also sent contributions to help with the cause. There were 19 teams entered. Port Toft, John Harvat and Monte Linke won the first year of the rodeo.
After the great success of the rodeo, the North Park Stockgrowers decided to make the rodeo an annual event and decided to sponsor it. They are still sponsoring the event to this day.
